This latest single is by 王心凌 for her new album 《爱不爱》which will be out on the 16 of November. Cyndi has really come a long way since her début to mature into a singer who knows how to choose her songs. I do enjoy some of her ballads and whilst this song isn't her "catchy-est" song, it is still radio-friendly and easy on the ears.

Interestingly, this song is composed by Lala, 徐佳莹 and lyrics by 葛大为. A quick search and I realised that both of them also collaborated on 快转 by 杨丞琳 which I have mentioned in my previous posting. Taking this as a sign, I have also decided to post 快转's lyrics.

In this video, Rainie shares some of her thoughts on this song (to listen to the song, fast forward to around 2:40).

There are some similarities or rather distinctive flavour between the two songs and I do think their collaborations produce really nice works. Let's stay tuned for more of such lovely compositions.

I have to admit I didn't fall head over heels with this song. But that's initially, of course. Rainie has really evolved as a singer; from her bubble gum pop offerings to songs with more sophistication. After all, those are songs which are 百听不厌.

The title of the song is interesting; now I am sure many of us want to be 幸福. The biggest question is how. According to the song, here's how

1. 学着戒掉悲观 负我的都不恨; Learn to quit being pessimistic, don't hate all those who have let you down
2. 懂得爱甜蜜中有苦涩的成分; Know that in the sweetness of love, there is an accompanying bitterness

I only picked two of my favourite lines to translate. I don't usually do translation work (not because it is difficult, but) because I feel that the beauty of the Chinese language is lost in the process. And that was the main reason why I chose to start this blog in the first place.

I have generally enjoyed 郭采洁's songs. No doubt, she is not your typical power house singer (cue A-mei), but her voice is strong in conveying emotions. Previous works of her's that I enjoy much include 诚实地想你, 不过问, 你在不在, 狠狠哭.

What I really enjoy about this song is its simplicity; no heavy background vocals and other musical instrument. This song is back-to-basics; her vocals accompanied with the guitar. Whilst it is soothing, there is an underlying tone of sadness as she mulls on "I'm still loving you, still loving you". This 黯然神伤 is enchanting and will lure you to play this song several more times than you expect to.
