Taiwanese singer, Yoga Lin, 林宥嘉 probably doesn't need much introduction. As the first winner of 超级星光大道 in 2007, he has released multiple albums, each sounding more unique and non-mainstream than his last. That is also perhaps why his songs will enhance your playlist; to give it balance with the more radio-friendly tracks. His songs and his vocals have a very distinctive feel to them and when you hear them, you will go "Oh, I know who this singer is".

The title of this song tells it all. 浪费 or when loosely translated refers to "waste" or in this case, a more apt term could be "squander". Yoga's vocals and tame background music creates a perfect combination for this ballad about unrequited love. There is this "nonchalant" feel in this song which is super because this is what this song is all about; it doesn't matter if you don't know, don't care or don't want to admit, I will continue behaving this way. The optimistic/idealists will call it persistence, the pessimists/realists will call it foolish but regardless, I am not giving it up.

Belonging to the latter group, I wasn't too keen on this song because of the content. But a good song is a good song and I should not be biased against it just because I am not for one-sided love. Quoting from another favourite show of mine, Modern Family, "There are dreamers and there are realists in this world, you think the dreamers would find the dreamers and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not the opposite is true. See the dreamers need the realists to keep the dreamers from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists? Well without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground."

So this song is to all the dreamers/idealists and may some of your optimism rub off onto the realists.
